Competition Regulations for BSO 2026- Adjustments may occur and will be announced in the news section on the website!

  We want our tournament to be characterized by respect and friendly conduct. This applies to everyone involved or present – players, coaches, team staff, referees, officials, parents, and spectators – both on and off the court.

 

Competition Regulations U17/16–U13

New for this year: U13 will play 4-on-4. Otherwise, the following rules apply for U13:

Game time: 4 x 6 minutes of effective time for all age categories (U13 and older).

·         Breaks: 1 minute between periods and 3 minutes at halftime.

·         Team fouls: After 4 team fouls, free throws are awarded starting from the 5th team foul.

·         Tied games: In case of a tie, Sudden Death is applied (starting with a jump ball), except in finals where 3-minute                   overtime periods are played until a winner is determined.

·         Timeouts: One timeout per half per team. Each team also gets one timeout per overtime period.

·         Zone defense: Allowed only in age groups U15 and U17/U16.

·         20-point rule: If a team leads by 20 points or more, the leading team must drop back to half court.

·         Roster size: No maximum number of players on the roster (medals available for 12 players and 2 coaches).

·         Player eligibility: Players must participate in the group stage to be eligible for the playoffs.

·         Playing on multiple teams: Players may not participate on multiple teams in the same age group (exception: if one team is a reserve team and does not advance to playoffs).

Games

In Basketshop Open, a group stage is played first with 3–6 teams per group. Bronze medal games will be played in the playoffs. Each team is guaranteed at least four games, except in cases where a team forfeits (WO) or is disqualified, in which case games may be removed.

After the group stage, teams advance to either the A or B playoffs.

 

Protests

A protest must be submitted in writing to the tournament office no later than 30 minutes after the end of the game. A protest fee of 500 SEK must be paid at the same time. The fee will be refunded if the protest is approved. Decisions made by the competition jury cannot be appealed.

Competition Regulations EB – U12 & U11/U10

Played by girls and boys in U12 & U11/U10 (differences from regular rules):

·6 periods x 4 minutes running time.

·4-on-4.

· All games start with a jump ball (then alternate possession).

· You may not take the ball from a player who is holding it with both hands.

· No free throws or timeouts.

·1-minute breaks between periods.

·No backcourt violations.

·Three-second rule: Applied with judgment in U12, not applied in U11/U10.

·All players must play at least two periods.

·No three-point line.

·Fouls during shot attempts result in an inbound for the offensive team (no free throws).

·No team fouls or personal fouls recorded.

· No standings or playoffs.

· After a made basket, the defense must retreat to half court.

·Full-court press, zone defense, and zone press are not allowed.

· Boys and girls may play together.

· All participants receive medals.
